Today is Memorial Day. We remember those who have sacrificed and lost so much so that we can live with the freedoms we are given. It’s a very poignant and special remembering. Freedom is costly.
My children were talking with me earlier about “Memorial” and what that word means. I explained that it is [...]

The Deer
My eyes were closed in contemplation
Music was blaring through the radio
I was writing stories, building my castles in the sky
My something out of nothing
In my frustration I heard the musician sing,
“We are the evidence of God”
It was a back drop for my thoughts and prayers
I was taking in “blue skies, …starry nights, …warm rain [...]

Texas Prim Rose
Fragile, natural tissue paper
Pale and pink as a baby’s skin
White and bright as a bridal gown
Leaning forward breathing deeply
Sunshine yellow afterglow
Of Mother Natures kisses
Are left behind on unsuspecting noses
Fields are covered with springtime blossoms
Texas calls them the prim rose.

The house was large and rambling with lots of rooms. It was old and Victorian in it’s hey day. It had a solarium with two macaws as sentinels. There was an ancient Schnauzer on a large pillow by a sunny window.
It was a lovely warm airy home. More than a house, it was a well [...]

Now these photos were taken with a REALLY OLD “JamCam” digital camera. I know they are very poor, comparatively speaking, but this is from about eight years ago give or take and was done for fun! It’s not about great art, it’s about laughs. This was Stogner babies story time in the raw!
The Further Adventures [...]

I found a new book that I am working slowly through and chewing up bit by bit. Ken Gire wrote The Reflective Life (Chariot Victor Publishing, ’98). It has absolutely stopped me cold in my tracks and given me so much to think about that I have been literally in the first chapter for three [...]

Hurried poetic tongue in cheek musings from April’s perspective… These are a bit of a rush job in passing as we go to a park for Spring Break.
Thoughts about our youth pastor’s dog….
A weenie dog is walking art
I dig his groovy symmetry
He is as tall as wide and deep
He waddles like a [...]
