Two days ago, your nephew struggled for the hundred millionth time (it seemed to me) to understand long division. He struggles, he re-learns it, he does it perfectly and I think the struggles are finally behind us, and then the next time comes around and he approaches the problem as though he's never seen long division before.

I behaved badly, yelled at him and made him cry.

And now I am in tears because of this timely and poignant and so very much needed lesson on patience with the ones we love.

Father God, let me never forget what I have learned here this morning. Let me never yell at my boys in impatience again. Let my past moments of failure not be the legacy I leave behind. AMEN.

April, thanks for posting this. I needed it, and the boys will thank you. Love you.
