If you were here

Right now

What would I say?

I would say something

Witty to make you laugh

I love to make you laugh

If you were here

Right now

What would we do?

I would brew you a cup

Of tea because you like it

And I like being with you

If you were here

Right now

How would it feel?

It would feel like a free trip to Six Flags

It would feel like Christmas

It would feel like coming home

Do you remember when…

Well of course you do

You never forget what matters

It’s one of those eternal laws.

Hey did you ever feel…

Because I did

I do still

Some days more than others but always.

Hey when I said….

But you knew that didn’t you.

Because you know me so well

You always fill in the blanks for me.

You know that I….

I know that you know, but

I’m just saying…

Saying it out loud… just to be sure.

Her skin is as soft as a dogwood’s petal

Her heart is as tender as the sole of a newborn babies’ foot

Her eyes dance like a candle’s flame in a summer breeze

Her mind is as quick as a lightning flash

Her wit is as dry as fine white wine and as intoxicating

This yellow rose of  Texas of mine.

He is a little more like his father every day

The strength

An Atlas syndrome; a drive to fix it all

The heart of a white knight .

He is a little more like me every day

The need to please

A Bacchus syndrome; The need to laugh out loud a lot

The heart and soul of a poet

He is a little more himself every day

He chooses slowly

A Solomon syndrome; debates more wisely

The heart of a gentleman and a warrior king.

Slow down, my Atlas

We can delegate the weight of the world

Find a Hercules for a little while

Come closer, my Adonis

I’m no Aphrodite but

I bear and give great love.

Even a hero needs a rest

Even a warrior has to drop a shield

I pray the space between us is a safe place.
