Thoughts about Chagall’s work

I have fallen in love with Marc Chagall’s paintings. It’s a recent love affair for me. I had never had the honor of viewing his work before and even now it’s only online. I love the poetry in his art very much. I love an entire cubist avant-garde Russian village in I and the Village.

I adore his view of love in Wedding

I love the stories he tells in his art like in The Walk.

He often depicted love as flight. He used his wife, Bella, as a model many times. I love the way his use of various colors depending on the painting always surprises me. His subjects he chooses are always a surprise- apparently he liked goats a great deal. He loves Biblical and poetic themes. He also created great stain glass work.

He makes me feel as if I were part of his world, joy, and loves.

  1. I too, have a great affection for the works of Chagall. I was given a book of his windows – such color and flair… I am also fascinated by the Paris Opera House ceiling mural – WOW — how brave he was. His expression of LOVE in hi art is beautiful — the sensation of floating or flying – an above the Earth feeling. His art is fascinating and I am pleased you have featured a few of his works.
